Wednesday studio (and AdvMM) will meet at two depot locations in Jacksonville, Florida. The exact itinerary will follow in a separate email. This email contains other information that must be acknowledged and addressed. There are two assignments at the end of this email.
Required:
Go to canvas, download the waiver, sign it in the presence of a witness and submit it. This must be done prior to leaving Orlando Wednesday morning. You will find it under assignments and, yes, the are points at stake. Do it sooner than later.
If you are in possession of a hard hat and/or construction vest (neon yellow safety-ultra-fashion-wear) bring whatever you have. Do not wear open-toed shoes or other non-construction site ready silliness.

Transport Refrigeration Incorporated / General Transport Services (aka Bold City Containers)
Note: Conglobal performs modifications on site. They are as much fabricators as dealers. Be prepared to ask questions about how they do this. Specifically. What do they have experience doing that you will need to do? Conglobal is corporate.
Note: Bold City Containers has an incredible variety of container types including reefers (refrigerated) and tanks. While these are not common, they are good to see. Bold City specializes in refrigeration repair. Bold City is independent and entrepreneurial.
You are visiting these depots for many reasons, here are a few.
- Introduction to container resale industry.
- Exposure to container types, condition, use, storage, availability, sale, etc.
- First-hand experience with container selection and handling.
- Exposure to container modification.
Think of other reasons that this visit is valuable. Share them in class on Friday, written and posted to the blog.
You must document the trip. You will be expected to journal your observations, not the event generally but specifically. In other words, not a tale of the things on, but grab specifics in images and write about them. Consider each of these observations to be a future PowerPoint slide or page in the book. You each must post twelve (12) observations to the blog by class Friday. These will be an image with a caption. Some observation or questions may not be easily accomplished by an image from the trip, if so, find one somewhere else. Be cleverly observant. Get good stuff. Ask good questions.
Attending our trip with us will be:
John Cook. Metal Fabricator for Kurz Residence (Gainesville).
