Cargotecture (I love when people combine two words) Zero waste pop-up restaurant Leave it to Australians to make cool eco-friendly container projects. Also, the designers name is Joost....so it has to be cool.
Very interesting. I think that some of these concepts could be used in our project. One challenge I have been trying to resolve is a restroom. Without water hook ups and the immense amount of square footage required for an ADA toilet room, it is an item I have excluded from the program. Maybe a composting toilet like this one http://natureshead.net/. Not sure how to solve the ADA though. Can we not adhere to those requirements?
There are sewer and water connections at these site (septic at least). Composting are also viable. The accessible restroom is a concern. What is the answer?

Do we have the ability to tap into the sewer system? Wouldn't we need a permit from the county to do that? How "temporary" does this become if we have physical connection to utilities? Currently I am leaning towards a port o potty adjacent to the container for this function. Will need to dress it up for sure though.
I was thinking about last night and came to the conclusion that port o potty's would be a good solution. An ADA restroom in this facility would take up SO much space, and if there are no connections or ability to connect to a sewer line, it would end up being a waste of space. I will have to check out these Composting toilets you mentioned...
That toilet is so cool! I just watched the video about it and I feel like that would be a great solution for the staff/workers of the facility, but not if there's a bunch of kids(some who may not be potty-trained appropriately?)...Not sure. Still going with the p.o.p.'s as the main option.

ReplyDeleteIf the project is always sited where there was previously a house then there will be some kind of hook up available.
